Training & Capacity Building

Strengthen health promotion in your community!
Training & Capacity Building(TCB) works to enhance community health planning and health promotion programs through its innovative training services. TTMF staff traininghese training and consulting services are designed to meet your organization's needs, ranging from two-hour to multi-day sessions. Focus may be on particular skills or health topics, or on larger organizational issues. Many trainings are based on a training of trainers model, allowing organizations to build capacity in a cost-efficient way.

Training and consulting services are offered in:

  • Program planning and design
  • Youth development and peer leadership
  • Community and leadership development

Training & Capacity Building also coordinates services with TMF's evaluation and health communications departments to create a seamless package of services that can include evaluation and materials development, based on the needs of your organization.

Youth Development
The youth development approach recognizes the assets of young people and builds on young people's particular capacities, strengths and formative needs. Youth development goes beyond preventing problems by helping youth gain the personal, social, academic, and citizenship competencies necessary for successful and full adolescence and adult life. Training & Capacity Building's programs teach strategies that help youth become healthy, successful people. HTI prepares adults to work effectively with youth and develop effective youth development programs.

Young people can be powerful agents of change. Peer leadership programs are one way to involve youth as leaders in their communities. Peer leadership programs help develop young people's skills to promote positive and healthy behaviors in their communities. Such programs can help young people develop skills in decision-making, action planning, advocacy, and oral presentation. Participants are empowered to educate their peers about health and prevention issues through a wide range of creative and effective strategies. HTI specializes in peer leadership preventing AIDS, tobacco use, and violence.
